Die Insel Sylt steht unter dem unaufhörlichen Einfluss hochtransformativer Kräfte. Nicht nur die Naturgewalten an sich nagen beständig an der Landmasse, auch der Mensch trägt entscheidend dazu bei, dass das Sylt, wie wir es einst kannten, eines Tages untergehen wird, wie einst das legendäre Rungholt.
Die Insel ist bedroht, und selbst die aufwändigen Sandvorspülungen, die einen immensen Teil des Schleswig-Holsteinischen Küstenschutz-Etats beanspruchen, können das Unvermeidliche nur hinauszögern: Früher oder später wird Sylt im Meer verschwinden – es ist nur eine Frage der Zeit.
Nova Sylt ist eine Kollektion mit aktuellen Arbeiten von Florian Reckert, die eine Vision eines anderen Sylt entwirft. Dieses Portfolio visualisiert, wie die Insel in einer anderen Realität einer mehr oder weniger fernen Zukunft irgendwo zwischen Dystopie und Utopie aussehen könnte.
Nutzen wir also die Gegenwart, um gleich hier und jetzt den Grundstein für ein »Neues Sylt« zu legen.
Discover the new Sylt
The island of Sylt is subject to the relentless forces of highly transformation. Not only do the forces of nature themselves constantly erode the landmass, but human activity also plays a significant role in ensuring that the Sylt we once knew will one day disappear, much like the legendary Rungholt.
The island is under threat, and even the extensive sand replenishments that consume a substantial portion of Schleswig-Holstein’s coastal protection budget can only delay the inevitable. Sooner or later, Sylt will vanish into the sea – it is merely a matter of time.
Nova Sylt is a collection of Florian Reckert’s recent works, offering a vision of a different Sylt. This portfolio visualises what the island could look like in another reality of a more or less distant future somewhere between dystopia and utopia.
