Es war im Jahr 1989, als Florian Reckert, inspiriert vom Mauerfall und dem darauf folgenden Zusammenbruch der DDR, den ewigen Wandel von Schöpfung und Verfall in Form einer Gleichung ausdrückte, nämlich in der Formel Q = V/t, die auch als Transformationsformel bezeichnet wird. Q steht dabei für Transformation, beschrieben durch den Quotienten aus Raum und Zeit, wobei V das Volumen, also den Raum, darstellt und t die Zeit. Die Formel beschreibt Transformation als das Verhältnis von Raum und Zeit und verweist darauf, dass beide nicht unabhängig voneinander betrachtet werden können – so wie auch Wachstum und Verfall in Natur und Gesellschaft einander bedingen.
Im Jahr 2023 gründete Florian Reckert das Institute for Artistic Research and Transformation (i*art), um intensiv an künstlerischen Ausdrucksformen der Transformationsformel und deren Auswirkungen, auch im Selbstversuch, zu forschen. Das i*art ist offen für Kollaborationen und alle künstlerischen Forschungsprojekte zum Thema Natur der Transformation.
Zu den Aufgaben des i*art gehören unter anderem die Kuratierung und Entwicklung von Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen sowie die Herausgabe und fachkundige Unterstützung bei Gestaltung und Druck von Buchpublikationen, Tonträgern sowie digitalen Veröffentlichungen im Bereich Film, Klang und Performance.
Die Aktivitäten des i*art sollen aber nicht nur Ausstellungen, Konzerte und Publikationen, sondern auch Workshops, Vorträge und Symposien umfassen, die sich mit den vielfältigen Facetten der Transformation auseinandersetzen. Ein weiteres wichtiges Anliegen des i*art ist es, dabei junge Talente zu fördern und ihnen eine Plattform für die Umsetzung neuer Ideen zu bieten.
Die Sprache der Wissenschaft kommt hierbei nicht nur als Hommage an eben diese zum Einsatz, sondern ist auch Reminiszenz an den Blindtext und somit auch an den klassischen Buchdruck. Eine Brücke zwischen Kunst, Wissenschaft, Handwerk sowie Natur- und Selbstreflektion zu schlagen ist die Mission. Dabei bildet die Zerbrechlichkeit von Lebensräumen, die Vernetzung der Arten und die transformative Kraft der Anpassung sowie unser eigenes menschliches Sein als Teil des ökologischen und universellen Gleichgewichts auf unserem Planeten einen besonderen Schwerpunkt.
Das i*art versteht sich als offenes System für den interdisziplinären Austausch zwischen Kunst, Wissenschaft, Handwerk und Gesellschaft. Es bietet dabei einen Raum für kreative Begegnungen zwischen Tradition und Innovation. Ziel ist es, gemeinsam neue Perspektiven auf die vielfältigen Erscheinungsformen der Transformation zu entwickeln und langfristig tragfähige Strukturen für deren Vermittlung und Finanzierung zu schaffen.

Exploring the power of transformation through art, perception, nature and social engagement
It was in 1989 that Florian Reckert, inspired by the fall of the Berlin Wall and the subsequent collapse of the GDR, expressed the eternal process of creation and decay in the form of an equation: Q = V/t, also referred to as the Formula of Transformation. Here, Q stands for transformation, described as the quotient of space and time, where V represents volume, or space, and t represents time. The formula describes transformation as the relationship between space and time, suggesting that neither can be understood independently of the other—just as growth and decay in nature and society are mutually dependent processes.
In 2023, Florian Reckert founded the Institute for Artistic Research and Transformation (i*art) to explore artistic expressions of the Formula of Transformation and its effects through artistic research, including self-experimentation. The activities of the i*art include the curation and development of solo and group exhibitions, as well as the publication and professional support of books, audio releases, and digital publications in the fields of film, sound, and performance.
However, the activities of the i*art are not limited to exhibitions, concerts, and publications. They also include workshops, lectures, and symposia addressing the many dimensions of transformation. Another important objective of the i*art is the support of emerging talents by providing a platform for the development and realization of new ideas.
The language of science serves not only as a homage to science itself, but also as a reference to placeholder text and, by extension, to the tradition of classical book printing. The mission is to build bridges between art, science, craftsmanship, and reflection on both nature and the self. Particular emphasis is placed on the fragility of habitats, the interconnectedness of species, the transformative power of adaptation, and our own human existence as part of the ecological and universal balance of our planet.

Le moi se brise en mille morceaux,
dans le tourbillon de la transformation
et suit le rythme de l’énergie,
qui se libère des anciens schémas.
Destruction, dissolution, douleur,
font partie du grand changement,
mais ce n’est que dans l’obscurité du chaos
que naît le nouveau, le merveilleux.
La force qui réside dans le changement
dépasse le moi,
te guide à travers ton ombre,
vers un sens et un être plus profonds.
